It was wet, rainy, and cold. The weather could not have been worse this Monday afternoon in London, but I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised because even in the heat of summer, England's weather can quickly turn and pelt you with unforgiving, meteoric wrath. And so I had tea.
But this was not just any tea... It was The Berkeley's Prêt-à-Portea. If my blog could be reincarnated as an afternoon tea, it would most certainly be this. An afternoon tea so up on fashion trends, that each dessert was handcrafted to match a look on the current season's runways. We obviously had Spring/Summer 2012, and believe it or not, the menu changes to match the next season's looks. Work It Berkeley!
I even got a personalized shoe.
It was certainly the best afternoon tea I've had in London (and I've had many.) The food and desserts were fresh, allergy-sensitive menu options were available (gluten-free, nut-free, lactose free) and you were provided with an overview of the season's fashion trends to boot!
| The mini fashion magazines equipped to each menu. I always appreciate light reading with my tea... |
The Berkeley Hotel is the epitome of London style, nestled across the street from Hyde Park, minutes from Harrods, and bordering Belgravia (the Borough home to diplomats and foreign embassies alike.) It was hard not to feel Fabulous, Darling...
With our tea, we were given a card of the Spring/Summer fashion trends that we were consuming...literally.
| I ordered the gluten free option as seen above! |
Fashion really is edible isn't it... Haut Appétit agrees.
I ordered the African Spice tea... warm and sweet with hints of vanilla. Just what I needed on that frigid day!

Did I mention that it was practically all-you-can-eat? They kept bringing out more food!

And as a thank you, guests of the afternoon tea got to bring home goodie bags! And thank you to fashionista's Imogen Leaver of Britain's Next Top Model, and Stephanie Smart of LOF London for joining me.
I got edible Michael Kors and Gucci...
